9:45 AM ET 1/24/17 We have narrowed the issue to sites running W3TC version 0.9.5.2 only. We will hold all W3TC updates for all sites still running W3TC version 0.9.5.1 until this problem has been resolved by the plug-in developer. Please do not update plugins on your sites. The HMG Managed Hosting service updates plugins only after they have been adequately tested and are deemed stable.
12:30 PM ET 1/19/17 A workaround has been announced and implemented on all sites that were impacted by this problem. The W3TC plugin has been enabled with the GZip option under Browser Cache unchecked. We will continue to monitor.
9:09 AM ET 1/19/17 There has been no update on W3TC from the developer as of this time. We will continue to monitor.
3:18 PM ET 01/18/17 Our team has determined that this problem is a known issue for sites running the W3 Total Cache plugin. The problem has been reported here: https://wordpress.org/support/topic/w3tc-causes-garbled-code-display-on-pages/. At this point, we are disabling the plugin and we will continue to monitor the forum discussion until a workaround or fix can be implemented.
10:00 AM ET 01/18/17 We are seeing some sites being affected with their site loading random type characters instead of the site. We have located the issue with one of the plug-ins, W3TC, and are aware of others in the WordPress community encountering the same issue.
Please be assured that we are aware of the issue and we are working to find a resolution to the problem.
